Compact Hardware ARM or "CHARM"

Vision4ce embedded software and hardware video trackers feature advanced video detection, tracking and processing algorithms, and can be more readily customized than traditional video trackers based on proprietary hardware. The CHARM is a new generation multi-function video processor and tracker that greatly extends performance in a size, weight, and power optimized package. Over 3 decades of Vision4ce's video tracking experience went into CHARM's design, making it the competitive choice for end users and system integrators.

CHARM uses the DART (Detection & Acquisition, with Robust Tracking) detection and target tracking software hosted on an embedded multicore ARM processor board for video tracking and image processing applications and can use either a Linux or Windows based system. DART functionality can be supplied as a module within the GRIP-Video Management System ( or as a stand-alone application. DART is fully compatible with the GRIP range of rugged PCs (, enabling a complete, low cost, detection and tracking system to be implemented using COTS hardware.

CHARM Boards

The CHARM-70 & 80 boards are standalone video tracker boards of dimensions a little larger than a business or credit card. Various connectors allow for direct connection to standard industry video and data interfaces. Remote operation is available as an option with control and video data being streamed over the LAN.

CHARM Module

The CHARM module can be integrated by the end customer to meet specific application and interface types. Vision4ce also can provide a baseline carrier board that is populated with a generic range of interfaces for integration into customer systems for initial evaluation.

Evaluation Kit and Test Target Generator

DART Evaluation Kit

We have just launched a promotional program to increase awareness and appreciation of our DART (software only) and CHARM video tracker products. While Vision4ce tracker software can run on different processor technologies, the DART Evaluation Kit runs on standard Intel CPUs under Windows 7 64 bit for easier assessment on a standard PC.

The DART evaluation kit will be provided with the following capability:

CHARM-Pi/TTG - Test Target Generator for Video Trackers (PAL/NTSC)

The Vision4ce CHARM-Pi/TTG product uses the Raspberry Pi as a Test Target Generator to provide a number of video scenarios that test trackers algorithmic limits and capability for target detection and target tracking.

The software is hosted on the Pi ARM processor board with the PAL/NTSC video being produced by the Pi ARM GPU analog output directly.

The TTG creates a number of dynamic target tracking scenes with differing contrast and noise so that tracking noise (jitter) and failures can be measured under various defined Signal to Noise (SNR) and Contrast Ratio (CR) conditions.
